There is no doubt that in the archives in Switzerland, Germany and France a good deal of additional information can be found on the Kieber and Grimm families.
Records of the 1700s have hardly been researched at this point. Why did Georges Frederic Kieber move to Oberhoffen from Preuschdorf? How did he become Adjout Mayor? He was 20 years old at the time of the French Revolution. How did that affect his life and the life of the family?
There might be taxrolls, property records and other material for this period of time. There are also additional records of various kinds of the first half of the 1800s to be expected for the Kieber family in Oberhoffen, such as sale and other contracts, perhaps inventories and alike. the actual military records of Sgt. Fritz Kieber can be found in the archives in Vincennes, outside of Paris.
We still don’t know how long the Grimms were in Doerrenbach and I suspect that they also originated in Switzerland. This research needs to be done, to find out
where they originally came from and the family history of the earlier period of time.
Researching the Kiebers in Erlinsbach, Switzerland (between Zurich and Bern) is also a priority.
A trip to Waldmuenchen to meet the family…and to Plain WI !!!!
