Georges Frederic aka “Frédéric” Kieber was born 28 Sep 1767 in Preuschdorf, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France to Jean Henri Küber and Anna Dorothea Tuba. Friedrich Kieber’s father is Johann Heinrich Kieber, a farmer in Preuschdorf.
Notes regarding the ancestors of third great Grampa, Georges Frederic: Johann Heinrich’s (this is simply the German version of the name Jean Henri) father is Daniel Kieber (“Küber”), who married in Preuschdorf in November 1725. He came from Langensoultzbach, which is a town nearby. In the 1725 marriage record his father’s name is given as Daniel, too, however, there is reason to believe that this statement is not correct. Daniel died in Preuschdorf in 1739. The burial was witnessed by “Albrecht Küber and Hans Heinrich Küber”, who are given as Daniel’s brothers. These two lived in Langensoultzbach, and various records are available that prove that their father’s name was Hans Heinrich Küber/Kiebert/Kyburth. He originates in “Erlisbach” (probably Erlinsbach), in the area of Bern in Switzerland.
As far as his patrilineal DNA, Georges Frederic, like his fathers before him, belongs to the R1b Haplogroup, subclade R-U106. R1b1a2a1a1a. It is a common sub-clade of the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Belgium.

Friedrich died as soon as 1818, leaving behind his widow and the young children. She remarried the tailor Balthasar Engel (senior), with whom she had another three children.
Friedrich’s home in was later passed on to Balthasar Engel (junior), son of his wife and her second husband. There is a (new) home on the property that has remained in the family. Vineyards rise on the hill behind the house on the outskirts of Oberhoffen. The gentleman who owns it now, Mr. Guttman, is a lovely person, who loves his horse. We watched it grazing beneath a cherry tree across the street from the home.
