Rott, like neighboring Oberhoffen, is in the canton of Wissembourg. The town of Wissembourg is only 2.9 km away. The approximately 400  residents are known as Rottois (love that!). .It is located within the Regional Natural Park of the Northern Vosges.

The town of Rott, a neighboring village of Oberhoffen, contained St. Georges Reformed Lutheran church to which many of our ancestors attended. In particular, third great grandfather, Daniel Müller and his ancestors. It is located on the Rue Principale, zipcode 67160.

Here is a description of the church from the French Ministry of Culture:

“The Church, located in the enclosure of the cemetery, dominates the whole of the village. It is approximately oriented and consists of a tower-porch off-work, of a continuous nave with the choir, to cut sections, and a vestry to the North. The base has the same moldings all around the building. the Windows are arched. In the Tower, giving access to the tribune, straight staircase in sandstone with reuse of steps of a spiral stone staircase. The frame has six farms kingpost on sole. The arrow 4 sided with jumps and arched top is covered with slates. The first mention of the Saint-Georges Church dates back to the 15th century. The reform was introduced around 1530 by the Duke of Zweibrücken. From 1588 the Lutheran Parish has been replaced by the reformed parish (Duke John of Zweibrücken is being converted to Calvinism). From 1685, the Church is trimultanee, i.e. used alternately (largely majority) reforms, Lutherans and Catholics (once a month). The old church was demolished in 1760 and rebuilt in 1762. Roman or medieval remains that would retain the Church, according to historical works, nothing is apparent. The Gallery, once developed, has been reduced and demonstrated two Ravens in place on the walls of the nave. The old graveyard around the Church was fortified during medieval times.”
