Ana was born 18 January 1851 to John Ruhland and Eva Hetzl Ruhland in Holzweis # 1, which is now Spielerg #9, the village of Schaferie, Waldmunchen, Bavaria.
Ana was 3 years old when she emigrated with her parents and her father’s brother, Andrew, his wife Theresa, and their child, Ana’s 7 year old cousin, Anna. They arrived on 23 May 1854 in Castle Garden, NY.
Ana was 9 in 1860. The census lists John (40) a laborer, Eva (35), Ana, Theresia (4), Andrew (1) in house # 930 in Buffalo’s 6th Ward.
Ana married George Ruhland under a special dispensation from the church on 8 February 1869 in St. Ann’s RC church, Buffalo NY. Hard to read, but the witnesses were Josef Hauslauden and Joann Hauser, I think.
Ana’s elder sis,Theresa died in 1882. Theresa was only 28 years old; she’d never married. Ana was 21 years old.
Ana’s father John died 3 August 1896. Ana was 45.
In 1902, Ana (46) and George’s children chipped in to pay for them to visit the old country. They sailed on the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosser, returning from Bremen. George is listed as a farmer.
On 4 Nov 1905, Ana’s husband, George died of cirrhosis of the liver and general violence. He was 64.
Ana’s mother, Eva died on 5 May 1913. Ana was 62.
In 1918, 1919, 1920, 1923 1924, the city directories lists Ana as a widow living with her youngest son, Henry F., an electrician, at 83 Nevada Avenue. In 1918 Henry was a machine operator. In 1928 Henry was a salesman for Real Silk Hosiery Mills, inc. In 1929, Henry is listed as a shoemaker.
In 1925, Ana’s single, 65 year old brother, Andrew died in Buffalo. Ana was 74.
