Anna Ruhland’s Brown Cake

This recipe came from Anna Ruhland Kieber.

INGREDIENTS

2 c. brown sugar

6 tsp. vinegar

1/2 c. butter

2 eggs, separated

2 sq. chocolate

1/2 tsp. baking soda

2.5 c. flour

DIRECTIONS

1. Melt chocolate and butter

2. Add enough water to vinegar to make one cupfull

3. Pour over sugar

4. Add egg yolks, well beaten

5. Add flour, sifted

6. Add melted chocolate, then whites of eggs well beaten

7. Add baking soda dissolved in a little water

8. Do not beat much after adding the whites of eggs.

There are no directions as to baking time or temp. If anyone bakes this delicious sounding cake, please take a photo and let us know the particulars of baking.
