Kieber Reunion 1948

KIEBER Family REUNION 1948

The annual Kieber reunion was held July 13, 1948 at Lincoln Park.

We were favored with an ideal day. Just a few of the families came for dinner, but the gang grew in number as they came group by group in the afternoon until 78 members of this large Kieber clan were  present.

The usual hellos and how-are-yous took place and then everyone got busy with ….

The children  had races in the afternoon and the ladies and men showed how good their aim was at throwing darts. John Malone was the champ of the men and DarR? Kieber of the women.

In a contest between Martin and Fred Kieber, Elmer Leib and Emmons Perkins, Martin Kieber whistled first after calling crackers and was the winner.

The group missed the presence of one of the original members who was present in former years in the person  of Emma Kieber Leib, who departed this life Feb. 15, 1948 at the age of 89 years.

After awhile the men hauled tables around to…the crowd for supper and the ladies spread out the food.

The youngsters did justice in the swings and slides in the park and it was amusing to see how they paired off, getting acquainted with each other.

Esta Hartwig and Mildred Buckley were given arrangements for next year’s reunion.
